Certified Medical Assistant & Front Office Reception
Alabama Game Changers is located in Birmingham, Alabama. We are a pediatric medical non profit. We exist to serve children with learning disabilities by evaluating and treating ADHD, anxiety, dyslexia and related processing disorders. We are seeking a mission oriented Medical Assistant/Medical Receptionist. This position is in person.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and adaptable Medical Assistant / Medical Receptionist
to join our team. This position blends direct patient care with administrative responsibilities, ensuring smooth clinic operations and positive patient experiences. The ideal candidate will be skilled at multitasking, comfortable interacting with patients and families, and familiar with scheduling, EHR systems, and collecting and charting vitals in a pediatric office setting.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Support
● Assist providers with patient intake, vitals, and chart preparation.
● Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
● Support clinical staff with PA requests, routing patient messages, and data entry.
Reception & Front Office
● Greet patients and families, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
● Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage the front desk workflow.
● Collect copays and provide clear information on office policies and procedures.
Insurance Verification & Billing Support
● Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to appointments.
● Track patient deductible responsibilities.
● Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals when required.
● Communicate with billing staff and to clarify outstanding balances.
● Assist patients with questions regarding their coverage, billing statements, and payment
options at the front desk.
Administrative Duties
● Manage patient correspondence, including sending records, test results, and other
documentation as needed.
● Maintain accurate logs and ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
● Support other administrative projects as assigned.
Qualifications
● High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification preferred.
● Minimum 1–2 years’ experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
● Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and CPR.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills with both patients and staff.
● Proficiency in EMR systems, scheduling software, and Google Suite.
● Ability to balance clinical and administrative tasks efficiently.

- We are open from 8:00-5:00 Monday through Friday. We are closed for a majority of federal holidays, three days for Thanksgiving, have 401k, and insurance available.
